Celebrate Jazz!
Jazz in all its many forms was the focus of Celebrate Jazz!, held April 28, 2018, at Lake Union Café, a dazzling event venue overlooking Lake Union. Popular jazz favorites as well as original music composed just for the evening were featured. Billed as a night of whimsy, many concert-goers dressed in their favorite Art Deco-style costumes, and some unexpected guests were on hand to provide a few surprises. A dance floor beckoned; light refreshments were served.
Performing that evening were virtuoso jazz vocalist Nancy Erickson, one of the most sought-after singers working in Seattle jazz today. Also on the concert program was the young, talented Naémi-Eve Pomarede, a teenage piano superstar from Paris whose amazing musicality belies her years.
Composers for Celebrate Jazz! are Nan Avant, Barry Dowsett, Eric Goetz, Tim Huling and Glenna Burmer. Huling conducted an orchestra of hand-picked musicians that are a who’s who of Seattle jazz.
